The unit Incorporates a number of user friendly features that maximise system performance, the HRX2 is ideal for larger flats, houses and apartments where installation space is restricted. Developed using the latest fan technology, the HRX2 offers an extremely low Specific Fan Power down to 0.46 W/(l/s) and reduces the build-up of condensation and mould.

As an added benefit to developers and house builders, self boild and DIY installers looking to lower the Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) required of any new property by Building Regulations, the HRX2’s energy efficient fan also helps secure points towards a better SAP rating.

The Polypipe Silavent HRX2 heat recovery ventilation unit is designed to provide superior air comfort levels and at the same time conserve energy by minimising heat wastage. This heat recycling is achieved by recovering heat from the air that would normally be expelled to the atmosphere and transferring this heat to fresh air being drawn into the property, which the system then distributes throughout.

The benefits of heat recovery ventilation

A heat recovery ventilation unit is mounted in your loft and ducted to outside to intake and extract air outlets.

Extract grilles are fitted in your kitchen and wet rooms and ducted to the heat recovery unit.

Supply air grilles are fitted in your habitable rooms; living rooms and bedrooms.

Each wet room is fitted with an extract valve, and each habitable room with a supply

Within the heat recovery unit, heat from the extracted dirty, moist air is transferred to the supply air and pumped back into your house.

What is a SFP Heat Recovery Unit Efficiency Chart?

It's simply a chart that demonstrates the Specific fan power of a heat recovery unit. It can be expressed in a number of equivalent SI units, but for ease it is generally referred to as W/l/s, where W is Watts and l/s is litres per second.

From this we can see how many Watts our fan or fans consume to extract a set number of litres of air in a second. For example, a small house with a Kitchen + bathroom the minimum high extraction airflow is 21 l/s. If the unit consumes 15 watts to achieve this:

Specific Fan Power (SFP): 15 / 21 = 0.7 w/l/s

The thermal efficiency figure is shown as a percentage. This percentage is the amount of heat recovered by the heat recovery unit. Simply put, the bigger the dwelling, the harder the unit needs to work which results in an efficiency drop. You can see clearly on the chart below the exact efficiency rates for the HRX unit in relation to different size properties.
